Dementia is a growing healthcare concern. Everyone will be affected by this disorder at some point in their lives. Whether you will have this disorder or take care of someone with this disorder, it will affect you in some manner. This book is a self-help book for caring for a loved one in the home or healthcare agency. An overview of dementia, types of dementia, and comparison of dementia with similar disorders will be discussed. This book consists of basic strategies for activities of daily living, communication skills, and behavior problems. Brief sections consist of common medications often used in treating persons with dementia and complementary/alternative treatment. This book is dedicated to my mother, Irene Jacobs Roberts, and grandmother, Sophia Taylor Jacobs.
